About

It all started in a candle shop in San Francisco. I spent my childhood watching my mom hand-dip and carve beautiful, fragrant pillars in her shop on the water. Those were the best of days. Eventually, I grew up, moved to NYC, and launched a busy career in fashion and social media, but never forgot that candle shop. In 2020, the pandemic hit, and I lost half the clients at the social media agency I had founded 10 years prior. I decided it was a sign to spend the year making a long-lost childhood dream come true. Nette is what I came out of that creative cocoon with.

I think of scent as a language. Every Nette fragrance begins as a poem I write that captures an emotion — joy, calm, nostalgia, desire. That poem becomes the blueprint for the scent: it defines the emotional intention. Then, we bring science in. Each fragrance is scientifically proven to boost certain emotions.

So each scent is both an art form and a tool for emotional wellbeing. It’s not just designed to smell beautiful — it’s designed to make you feel something, in a way you can really measure. I hope Nette brings good feelings into your life, the way it’s done to mine.

Our Name

Pronounced “NET,” our name comes from the French word for “impeccable,” “elegant,” and “clean” — values that guide every action and creation.

Based in NYC and founded in 2021 by second generation candle maker, Carol Han Pyle, Nette evolves with each release, building upon a signature of polish, utility, elegance, and ease.

Emotion & Memory

We utilize the latest advances in research on scent’s connection with emotion and memory to scientifically measure emotional response to our fragrances. Our technology combines neuroscience with AI to prove the benefits of each fragrance, including increased confidence, mindfulness, joy, and relaxation.

Poetry

Our founder writes a poem for each fragrance which serves as the starting point for development. That poem ends up engraved directly onto our perfume bottles and candle labels. It’s our way of bringing the art of poetry into your everyday.
